Mumbai: A Nalasopara man has been arrested for allegedly raping his teenaged girlfriend by spiking her drink and threatening to make a video of the sexual assault viral.
The 19-year-old college student filed a complaint with the Tuling police in Nalasopara (east) after her 25-year-old boyfriend allegedly assaulted her with a broken piece of mirror.
Inspector Prakash Birajdar said the teenager had not seen any video.
She told the police he had threatened her about a video but never showed it to her. The boyfriend told the police he had not taken any video and the sex was consensual. No video was found on his cellphone.
According to the teenager, he invited her home for his birthday in March. He offered her a soft drink laced with vodka. When she got high, he raped her and recorded it on his cellphone. Thereafter, he used the video to threaten and have sex with her.
Earlier this week, when he called her home for sex, she pleaded with him to delete the video. He got angry, broke a mirror and used its pieces to slash her wrist.
Birajdar said the teen may to have self-inflicted the injury on her left wrist after her boyfriend refused to marry her. The accused has been arrested for rape and causing hurt.
