Bhayander flat's ceiling collapses, lands on ground floor

MUMBAI: The ceiling of a flat on the third floor of a residential building in Bhayander collapsed and landed on the ground floor on Friday. Luckily, a man escaped with minor injuries.

According to the Navghar police, at around 1.30 pm, the hall room ceiling of the 3rd floor flat in 'C' wing of Shri Pooja Housing Society on Talav Road, Bhayander (east) came crashing down. It took with it the ceilings of the second and first floor. All the rubble landed on the ground floor. Pradeep Yadav, a resident of the second floor, was lucky to escape with minor injuries. He was given treatment at the Tunga hospital and allowed to go. There was no other person in the hall room of the three flats when the ceiling portion collapsed.

The residents of the ground plus three-storey building heard a loud sound. While nothing was visible from the outside, residents soon realised that the ceiling of the hall rooms had crashed. The owner of the third floor flat is believed to have undertaken repair works recently. The building is around 25 years old.

The Navghar police has registered an accidental case.
