Director KV Dayanand Reddy's Telugu movie "Siddhartha," featuring Sagar, Ragini and Sakshi Chowdary in the lead roles, has received mixed reviews and average ratings from critics and audience.

"Siddhartha" is a romantic action movie. Dayanand has also written the script, while Parachuri Brothers penned dialogues for the movie, which has Mani Sharma's music, S Gopal Reddy's cinematography and Pravin Pudi's editing.

Surya (Sagar) is a guy from a rich family, which has rivalry with a factionist family. His mother (Sana) sends him to Bangkok to end the feud between the two families. Surya changes his name to Siddhartha and falls in love with Sahasra (Ragini). But his mother asks him to come back to marry a girl (Sakshi Chowdary) from his enemy's family. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

"Siddhartha" has a routine and predictable revenge story, which has been brought to screens several times in Tollywood. The director has tried to make it interesting with some twists and turns and some commercial ingredients keep the viewers engaged in the first half. The story gains momentum before the interval, but the dragging narration mars the interest of the viewers in the second half, say critics.

Sagar has done brilliant acting, and his performance and chemistry with Ragini and Sakshi Chowdary are the highlights of "Siddhartha." Supporting artistes Benarjee, Subbaraju, Ajay, Randhir Gatla, Nagineedu, Satyam Rajesh, Thagubothu Ramesh and Sana are the assets of the movie. Bankrolled by Dasari Kiran Kumar, the film has good production values, critics say.

We bring you some audience and critics' verdict and ratings for the film.

123 Telugu Ratings: 2.75

Siddhartha is a below average fare which has some very interesting moments during the first half. Sagar's performance and good production values are basic assets. But a lackluster second half and dragged out climax makes this film just an okay watch this weekend.

Iqlikmovies Verdict

Siddhartha is a decent yet dull film. It has got nothing new, heartening or worth watching that we haven't before except for its hero and heroine. It is purely for someone who wishes to encourage them whatsoever.
