The owner of Pilkington, NSG Group, has entered an agreement with Solaria to manufacture and produce semi-transparent Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) solutions.
Solaria’s BIPV technology and manufacturing process is renowned for its ability to combine high energy efficiency with attractive design.
NSG Group, which boasts years of experience in the production of architectural glass solutions, intends to collaborate with the company to extend its product portfolio.
The Group hopes to establish a BIPV supply chain, incorporating Solaria’s PowerView technologies into its creations. The first Pilkington-branded glass products powered by Solaria will include architectural glass with unified vision, glare control, daylighting and energy generation.
In the future, BIPV will be integrated into IGU and glass products for building facades.
Additional products, including a bifacial solar system, spandrel glass and frit solutions, will also be developed as a result of the collaboration.
The BIPV range has been designed to equip architects with an energy efficient alternative to traditional glass and glazing systems. By specifying the products, developers can achieve net zero energy and produce buildings with the ability to generate power.
NSG Group will introduce the products to the European market, with plans to expand to the Middle East and beyond, in the near future.
