It can’t get any better for fans of south Indian stalwarts Kamal Hassan and Mohanlal. The latest buzz is that Kamal Hassan is likely to star in the Tamil remake of Malayalam super hit film ‘Oppam’.

Mohanlal’s Onam release ‘Oppam’ received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. It is also keeping the cash registers ringing at the Kerala box office. No wonder Kamal has shown an interest to reprise the role of Mohanlal in the film.

There were reports about Kamal remaking ‘Oppam’ in Tamil. However, now the speculations have become stronger after actor-director P Samuthirakani shared the information that he had gathered from his film circle.

“Very happy & proud to be part of #Oppam super happy with the success!! Heard #Ulaganayagan going to remake in,” Samuthirakani posted on his Twitter account. He had played the role of a villain in the Malayalam film.

However, Kamal is yet to officially confirm the news. Earlier reports said that the ‘Dasavatharam’ star had phoned Lalettan and director Priyadarshan to congratulate them after watching the film.

Festive offer

Last year, Kamal has starred in the Tamil remake of Jeethu Joseph’s ‘Drishyam’. The Tamil remake titled ‘Papanasam’ was even better than the original Malayalam film, courtesy Kamal’s versatile acting skills.

The actor with over 50 years of experience in the film industry had given a different dimension to the lead character Suyambulingam, which was originally played by Mohanlal as George Kutty in Malayalam.

Jeethu Joseph had also done a commendable job of drawing a stark contrast between Suyambulingam and George Kutty in terms of screenplay. So, as fans, we can’t wait to see how differently Kamal will play the role of visually-impaired lift operator who gets embroiled in a murder case in the Tamil remake of ‘Oppam’.

However, any official announcement from Kamal on the remake may take some time as the actor is now recovering from a leg fracture. The actor was busy shooting for Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie ‘Sabash Naidu’ when he suffered the fracture. He is expected to resume shooting for the film from November.
