Buzz is that Soundarya R Ashwin, the daughter of Tamil megastar Rajinikanth whose film Kabali released recently, has filed for divorce with the husband Ashwin Ramkumar. Soundarya, who will turn 32 on September 20, has not said anything officially. The two got married in 2010 with much fanfare and in the presence of many celebrity guests from the entertainment industry.

Soundarya runs a special effects firm Ocher Studios and even directed a VFX film starring Rajinikanth called Kochadaiyaan, while Ashwin is a Stanford graduate and a businessman. Soundarya has an older sister, director Aishwarya who is married to National Award-winning actor Dhanush. Soundarya and Ashwin have a one-year-old son, Ved, and it is not clear whether either of the them has filed for the child’s custody.

Reports in the media say that Rajinikanth stayed with the couple for a few days to help them reconcile, but to no avail. It seems the good-looking and talent couple has decided to part ways forever!

Another couple who has finally got divorced is filmmaker Priyadarshan and actress Lissy Lakshmi, who announced that the divorce procedure was an ordeal and that she is now relieved after it is all over. Just as actors marrying each other is on the rise in films and television, there is also a rise in the divorce rate. Recently, Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan got divorced from his wife, interior designer Sussanne Khan. Then Salman Khan’s filmmaker-actor brother Arbaaz Khan and his wife Malaika Arora Khan have also separated, and there are rumours of the other brother Sohail Khan also separating from his wife Seema Sachdeva.
