Gone are the days, when actors used to wrap up shooting and put their feet up, leaving the directors and producers to do all the weight lifting to ensure the successful release of films. Actors start promoting their films from the moment they sign on the dotted line. And when the release date draws closer, their promotional campaigns reach fever pitch.

However, there are couple of superstars, who can afford not to show up at the promotional events of their films and still ensure a massive opening for their films. One, Rajinikanth. And second, it is ‘Thala’ Ajith. While the fans get to see Rajinikanth once in a while on television or a film event, Ajith is notoriously famous for avoiding public appearances.

And Ajith’s elusiveness only adds more layers to his ever-growing popularity.

But, how can an actor who is still struggling to find his feet afford to skip his film’s promotional event? Not very advisable.

While the entire cast and crew were present at the press meet of ‘Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings’, actor Jai was nowhere to be seen. And his absence has seemingly irked producer T Siva of Amma Creations.

Festive offer

According to reports, without taking any name, Siva said that young actors should not follow Ajith’s policy of not attending the film events.

He noted that Ajith’s movies record massive openings because the fans only get to see the actor onscreen and nowhere else. He also said that young and upcoming actors cannot afford to do that.

“Not everyone can become Ajith,” Siva roared. And he, indeed, has a point.
