Actor Samuthirakani, who played the villain in Oppam, took to Twitter and confirmed the news. He wrote, "Very happy & proud to be part of #Oppam super happy with the success!! Heard #Ulaganayagan going to remake in"

Oppam, directed by ace-filmmaker Priyadarshan, hit the screens worldwide on September 8 and opened to great response from the audience.

In the film, Mohanlal plays a visually-impaired man, who is both a witness and a suspect of a crime he never committed.

Notably, Kamal Haasan remade Mohanlal's Drishyam in Tamil as Papanasam, which was an out-and-out money spinner at the box office.

However, we await an official confirmation.

Oppam also stars Vimala Raman, Samuthirakani, Anusree and Nedumudi Venu in lead roles.
