Vinod Patil explores many emotions in debut film
Engineering may have been Hubballi boy Vinod Patil's first career choice, but his heart, he says, lay in cinema. But given that he had no filmi connect, he knew that pursuing his passion was not going to be easy, so Vinod decided to try his hand at modeling as a stepping stone to showbiz. The gamble paid off, and shortly after winning a model hunt, Vinod got the big break he was looking for in director Himayath Khan's Just Akasmika.
In a candid chat withBangalore Times, he speaks about his journey and working on the movie. 'I worked as an engineer for about four years, during which time I was also a part-time model. In 2014, I won a model hunt in Mysuru, after which I began to get more modeling assignments. It was around this time that I heard that the team of Just Akasmika was looking for a lead hero. I took part in the audition, and, as luck would have it, I got selected from around 800 others,' Vinod explains.
The newbie actor is glad that he is making his acting debut in Himayath's film. 'During my early days on the set, I was terribly nervous and made several mistakes. But Himayath and my co-stars Sanjjanaa and Tilak went out of their way to make me comfortable and helped me get my scenes right,' adds Vinod.
In the film, the actor plays a character with a lot of shades. 'He is a lover boy, but he is also a friendly guy who cares for others and helps sort their issues out. At its core, Just Akasmika is a thriller, so I got to do action as well. I am glad that I got to explore so many emotions in my first film,' he says.
As the film, produced by Eye Spice Production Private Limited, is set to hit screens today, Vinod tells us just what makes it a must-watch this week. 'Just Akasmika is a movie from a new team, but one with a good social message. In today's milieu, we often tend to be self-centric and do not care for others or their problems, which is wrong. With this film, we are trying to spread a message about caring for others. The content of the film looks rich onscreen and some of the songs have made it to music charts, like, for instance, Yellow Yellow and My Ganesha. For one of the songs, we used the stop-motion technique, which will be a treat to watch,' he says.
