UP farmer disappointment as he couldn’t loot the Khaat in Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Khat Sabha’

Mirzapur: Ahead of next year’s assembly election Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, launched Deoria to Dilli yatra to connect with voters, in which the Congress has specially made the colourful ‘khats’ by artisans in Bihar and other states for the event.

Earlier this month the first mass contact programme, ‘Khat Sabha’ was held in Uttar Pradesh’s Rudrapur. The venue was replete with nearly 1,200 cots for people to come, sit and listen to Gandhi talk about his plans for the farmers of this country, but soon after Gandhi concluded his speech people picked up those khats and started walking towards their homes.

One of the farmer was quoted as saying. “This is a gift from Rahulji. Congress has always done a lot for farmers.”

But few farmers were disappointed on Sunday’s rally as they didn’t get the khat as promised to them. A farmer Kailash Nat Kesari said “We were told by the Congress workers that we’ll get a khaat and a shirt. We haven’t got anything but a flag.”

When asked if he attended the rally to hear the speech or to receive the khaat, he said, “for both.”

“Bhashan bhi sunne aaye the.. Khaat bhi lene aaye the, par Kahi kuch nahi mila, ye log bus Jhanda dekar chale gaye (I came here for both, Khaat and Speech, but didn’t get the Khaat.”

UP’s voters may be interested more in looting the Congress cots than voting for them.
