Woman fighting for life after car overturned in serious road crash

An elderly woman remains in a critical condition this morning after horror road crash in Kerry on Wednesday evening.

The woman (77) was understood to be gravely injured and was airlifted to Kerry Regional Hospital while her husband was taken by ambulance to Kerry Regional Hospital with serious injuries after their car overturned.

The accident occurred around 7.45pm at Lissyviggeen about three kilometres from Killarney.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

A garda forensic examination took place last night.

A spokesman said: "A male(75 years) driver and female(77 years) passenger were injured and taken to Kerry General Hospital, injuries were described as serious. No further update other than they are still in hospital."

Gardai at Killarney are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 064 663 1222.
