STA for introduction of Sanskrit as compulsory subject in schools

JAMMU, Sept 14: Sanskrit Teachers’ Association (STA), J&K, has demanded the State Government for introducing Sanskrit as a compulsory subject in the schools right from class 1st.
Addressing a meeting of the association held here today, its president, Dr Vinod Kumar Shastri, said that the Sanskrit should be included in the syllabus of the study in all Government schools and taught from class 1st.
“Besides, all the vacant posts of Sanskrit lecturers in all Government Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges should be filled immediately”, he added.
Dr Shastri demanded that Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers, who have their degrees from Shree Guru Gangdev Mahavidyalaya be regularized immediately. He flayed the State Government for not opening Sanskrit Department in Central University as well as Shree Mata Vaishno Devi University and ignoring the Scholars of Sanskrit by J&K Service Selection Board while inviting applications for selection of teachers.
He also stressed for establishing ‘Kashmir Shaiv Darshan and Sharda Leepi’ in all universities. Dr Shastri informed the meeting that in due course of time the association will submit a memorandum to Parkash Javedkar, Union HRD Minister.
