Thane: A 31-year-old Santacruz resident who was in the city to visit his friend was robbed of his laptop worth Rs 1.5 lakh by a auto driver at Panchpakhadi on Sunday.
Jaini Vardhamanseth had met his friend’s for lunch. They had halted an auto and drove up to a hotel to find if there were tables available. When they got off, they asked the driver to wait for a while till they enquired about the avialability.
Jaini left his bad containing his laptop in the auto.
When they returned a few minutes later, they were shocked to find that the auto driver wasn’t there and he had fled with the laptop. The trio searched the nearby locality for the auto driver, but in vain. They also enquired with the other auto driver in the vicinity, but they ran out of luck.
As the trio had not found anything amiss, they had not noted down the auto number. They lodged a complaint with the Naupada police who registered a case of robbery.
The police are on the lookout for the accused.
