Devprayag emerging Sanskrit centre, says Kaushik

Haridwar and Rishikesh have become hub of Sanskrit education in the state, while Devprayag following in the footsteps of twin towns is also emerging as a major Sanskrit learning center. This was stated by former Cabinet minister and sitting MLA Madan Kaushik today at the Sanskrit prize distribution function organised by the Dev Vani Paropkar Mission at the Nirdhan Niketan Ashram, Khadkhadi.

He said the BJP government in 2010-11 introduced Sanskrit as the second official language in Uttarakhand. Kaushik said Uttarakhand was the lone state in the world known as Sanskrit hub while Haridwar and Rishikesh had become higher learning centre of Sanskrit.

Mahamandaleshwar Swami Prakhar Ji Maharaj stressed on Vedic, moral as well as modern education. “Sanskrit is an ancient language, learning of which in today’s time also holds a major significance. Vedas, shrutis, Upanishads or epics like the Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, Mahabharat are all written in Sanskrit. It not only makes one knowledgable but also morally stronger,” said Prakhar Ji Maharaj.

Dev Vani Paropkar Mission president Ishwar Suyal said students took part in state-level general knowledge competition as well as sloka recitation and Sanskrit elocution competition.

In debate, Amit Upadhyay of Rishi Sanskrit School got the first prize while Lalit Mohan Bisht of Rishi Sanskrti School secured the second place. Amisha Bisht of Chetan Jyoti Junior High School was adjudged third.

Amit Bahukhandi of Sapt Rishi Sanskrit Mahavidyalya, Lalit Moha from Rishi Sanskrit Mahavidyalya and Ashwani Sharma of Geeta Sanskrit Vidyalya were adjudged first, second and third, respectively, in the sloka competition. Principal Bharat Nandan Chaubey lauded efforts of the Dev Vani Paropkar Mission in propagating Sanskrit education and generating interest among learners.

Dr Prabhu Dayal Sharma, Harsh Kala, student leader Shakti Tyagi, Gaurav Giri, Trilok Joshi, Kamal Panchali, Kamal Joshi, Vinay Dhasmana, Manish Bhatt, Gobind Bhatt, Vishwas Dobriyal, Harshit Pandey, Dhanshyam, Netra Ballabhand Sarvesh Tiwari were present.
