GURGAON: Those parts of the city that get water from Chandu Budhera water treatment plant (WTP) may not face a water crisis because of disruption in power supply next summer. A dedicated power substation will become operational in a week or two, thereby ensuring constant power supply to the plant.
This summer areas such as sectors 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, all phases of DLF and Sushant Lok, which get water from Chandu Budhera WTP, had to face water shortage mainly owing to disruption in power supply.

The Chandhu Budhera plant currently gets power from the Farrukh Nagar substation, which is 10km away from the plant and even a minor problem causes disruption in power supply. The proposal for construction for a dedicated substation has been pending for the past few years. Now, Huda has deposited the required Rs 5.45 crore to the power department to set up the substation.
Executive engineer Bhoop Singh said, “The money has been deposited with the power department and work has started for installing the 66kV substation.” He said that problem of disruption in power supply will be resolved to a great extent.
While some faults are repaired within a few hours, others take 12 to 14 hours. Owing to this, treatment plants sometimes remain closed leading to a water crisis in the city. And once power is restored, it takes more than two hours to restart the plant.
