Debina Bonnerjee’s show 'Dr Madhumati On Duty' to end on September 30

Debina Bonnerjee took over from Kavita Kaushik in the show 'Dr Bhanumati On Duty', which was revamped and re-titled 'Dr Madhumati On Duty'. While the actress has been appreciated for her hot avatar, the show’s ratings didn’t pick up. After it launched mid-July, it is now set to end on September 30.
She says, “A comedy show requires sub-plots to keep it going. But when the viewers liked our love track, the makers only focussed on the lead pair.I was tired of mouthing the same dialogue about not being in love with the man who spurned me five years ago. I am glad the show didn’t extend or I would have slapped myself for saying the same thing all the time (laughs).”
Talking about the challenges she faced while playing the character, she says, “I treated the show like a new project and made it on my own. I managed to make people forget Kavita by bringing a new energy to it. I go by my instinct while taking up a project without caring about the money I make from it.”
However, she is happy that she got to experiment with her look on the show. “For the first time in so many years, Gurmeet (her husband) told me that I looked hot. In fact, my friends were also stunned that I could look that way. I am happy to have rediscovered this side to me. I had a great time playing the part though it was a short and sweet journey,” she adds.
