A court has sought a report from the Arthur Road jail after it came to light that an accused supposed to be in judicial custody has been ‘missing’ since January. Ashok Abhishek Prasad, the accused in a theft case filed by a BJP MP’s son Mehar Singh Tanwar, was given bail in a separate case of forgery of a PAN card.
Sources said that Prasad, who was lodged in Taloja jail, was released after his bail in January, even as another case is pending against him. The court had sought a report from the Taloja, superintendent, who reportedly claimed that Arthur Road authorities did not informed them about the pending case.
Prasad was arrested last year on Tanwar’s complaint. Tanwar, who was staying at a hotel in the city along with his business partner, had contacted an escort agency. Four men and an escort sent by the agency had looted the men of Rs 1 lakh. Prasad’s involvement in the case was providing the escort.
