Patna: Akash Dey, the 20-year-old son of photojournalist Indrajeet Dey, succumbed to his injuries at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, one Bilal (22) has been arrested for allegedly firing at Akash on the Bhootnath Road under Agamkuan police station area on September 10. Bilal alleged that Akash used to supply arms to different biker gangs active in Patna.
"He was in touch with nearly 200 members of different biker gangs. Akash took one pistol and one revolver from me around six months back, but was refusing to make the payment. My brother was asking for money, but I had no other way except threatening him. Another guy, Iqbal, went with me to kill Akash. Iqbal had given Rs1 lakh loan to him last year but Akash did not return his money. We planned his murder to take revenge and I only shot at him," he said.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said Bilal was arrested from Khajekalan area while Iqbal was still absconding.
"We have also recovered the gun used in killing Akash. The gun will be sent to FSL for confirmation," said the SSP, adding, "Police will verify Bilal's claims before reaching any conclusion."
Akash was shot thrice in his forehead while he was sitting at his family's Ayurvedic medicine shop.
He was a first year BCA student at a private college in the city. Soon after the incident, he was rushed to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) where doctors performed surgery and took out one bullet from his head. Later, he was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries.
