Cauvery Agitation: Football fans deprived of witnessing AFC QF match

Bengaluru, Sep 14 (UNI) Football lovers of the Silicon city were deprived of an opportunity to witness the first leg of AFC Cup Quarterfinal match between JKW Bengaluru Football Club and Singapore's Tampines as spectators were banned entry due to unrest over release of water from river Cauvery as per direction by the Supreme Court to Tamil Nadu.

Following the city witnessing large scale violence during the last three days, the authorities decided to ban entry to public to the match played at Sri Kanteerava Stadium. Only teams, their staff, ball boys, medical personnel, match officials and limited media were allowed. The timing of the match was also advanced from 7 PM so that the game was played during day time, instead of under
