Row within first family of SP escalates; Mulayam holds family durbar in Delhi, CM cancels all official engagements

Lucknow/New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) Apparently miffed over deepening crisis in the ruling Samajwadi Party(SP), State Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who was divested the party state president's post, cancelled all his engagements while his father and party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, playing a sheet-anchor role to diffuse the crisis, remained closeted with his trusted lieutenants in the national capital.
New party state president Shivpal Yadav who is understood to have been summoned by the party Chief held in camera meetings at the latter's residence that was cordoned off by the posse of police to keep the battery of the media persons at a bay.
Confusing signals emanated on the fluid political situation and most of the party leaders including members of the first family chose not to open up on the situation, but tension was apparently writ large on their faces in the wake of the sudden developments as the assembly polls are only a few months away.
