Police shoot knife-wielding man in the Bronx

A police officer shot a knife-wielding man in the leg Wednesday morning when the suspect refused to drop his weapon, sources said.

The shooting took place in an apartment building on Dewey Avenue in Throggs Neck around 1 a.m. when police responded to the scene and encountered the man with a knife, according to police sources.

The man was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

It was not clear Wednesday morning why cops were called to the address.
