JAMMU, Sept 13: Army and BSF exchanged sweets and greeting with Pakistani counterparts on the occasion of Eid festival today at both Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu.
Official sources said Army exchanged sweets with Pakistani troops at various points on the LoC including traditional Chakan-Da-Bagh on Poonch-Rawlakote route and Tatta Pani-Mendhar crossing point in Krishna Ghati sector, both falling in Poonch district, where four militants were killed in three-day long operation today.
“The exchange of sweets is an appreciated gesture from both the neighbouring countries and a regular event on the occasions of Diwali and Eid,” sources said, adding “the event is a testimony of goodwill and will certainly strengthen the efforts towards maintaining peace and tranquility along LoC between the two countries”.
The meetings between Indo-Pak Army officials at both the points of Chakan-Da-Bagh and Tatta Pani lasted about half an hour during which they exchanged Eid greetings and sweets.
The BSF and Pakistani Rangers also exchanged sweets at various places on the International Border, the main function being held at Octroi Post of Suchetgarh sector in RS Pura tehsil.
The BSF and Rangers also exchanged sweets at various other places on the IB, which was now peaceful for the past quite some time. The two sides further committed themselves to peace, sources said.
