Lancashire vs Middlesex

Toby Ronald-Jones's four-wicket haul helped Middlesex retain command on Day 2 of the County Championship match against Lancashire at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Resuming the day on 258 for 3, the visitors' middle order crumbled and they were bundled for 327. They managed to add only 69 runs for seven wickets on the second day.

However, Middlesex managed to come back into the contest after rattling the hosts' top order. While Rob Jones managed to hold fort at one end with an unbeaten 42, Haseeb Hameed (0), Luke Procter (1) and Alviro Petersen (3) fell for single digits.

Jos Taylor struck three boundaries in his 15-ball stay, but departed for 16. Liam Livingstone offered company to Jones as they ended the day on 102 for 5, 222 runs behind Middlesex's first-innings total.

Yorkshire vs Somerset

Somerset asserted their dominance against Yorkshire with a brilliant all-round display at Leeds.

Chris Rogers, who was unbeaten in company of Marcus Trescothick at Stumps on Day One, fell early on Day Two. However, half centuries from Jim Allenby and Lewis Gregory helped the visitors each 390 before getting bowled out. Ryan Sidebottom with a 5 for 51 and Adil Rashid with 3 for 99 were the the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.

However, their batting failed to fire for the second time in the match. Alex Lees (9), Gary Ballance (1) and Andrew Gale (2) departed without making significant contribution. Jake Lehmann provided some late flourish as Yorkshire reached 57 for 3 at Stumps

Brief Scores: Yorkshire 145 (Tim Bresnan 38*; Jim Allenby 3-16, Chris Overton 3-32) and 57/3 (Adam Lyth 27*; Tim Groenewald 2-20) trail Somerset 390 (Lewis Gregory 73*, Marcus Trescothick 73; Ryan Sidebottom 5-51, Adil Rashid 3-99) by 188 runs.

Northamptonshire vs Gloucestershire

David Payne picked up four wickets and scored a fighting 56, but his efforts could not prevent hosts Northamptonshire from building a healthy lead in their clash against Gloucestershire at the County Ground in Northampton.

Starting the day at 322 for 6, the hosts could only add four runs to their overnight score as Payne picked up all the remaining wickets in the two overs he bowled at the start of the day. Despite restricting the home team's total, Gloucestershire could not capitalise on it as they lost wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 158 for 7 at one stage. Payne's fighting innings took the visitors past 250 before they were eventually bowled out for 261.
