Alaknanda Vaidya is a doctor who works in Baramati and suffers from near paralysis. She has to depend on an assistant for all her daily chores right from getting out of the bed to going to the bathroom.  Six years back, the doctor met with an accident, which left her paralysed waist below. However, she did not let her condition deter her and applied for a government job last year, wherein she got selected as well. She was elated as she could financially support her daughter with her job, but her ''relief was short-lived'' as she was posted 100 kms away from her home Pune.

Vaidya left her 11-year-old daughter with her mother and moved to Baramati. Asking for a transfer to Pune, Vaidya filed a petition on change.org, so that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would step in and help her eventually. In her petition, she has also mentioned about her appeals made to various officials which fell on deaf ears.  Her petition mentions a government rule which states that a physically challenged person is not supposed to be posted further than 10 km from their home.  The petition has already been signed by 84,958 supporters so far. On Tuesday, her appeal finally reached the right person as CM Fadnavis took cognizance of it. Taking on to Twitter, Fadnavis apologised for the inconvenience and said that he would get her transfer done by Wednesday.
