Dancer at mall mile bar alleges gang rape

GURGAON: A 26-year-old Delhi woman working at a nightclub on Gurgaon’s mall mile was allegedly raped by three men in the early hours of Sunday. One of the men befriended the woman, a resident of Munirka in Delhi, outside Sahara Mall on Saturday night. He then allegedly took her to an accommodation in Sector 29, where two more persons joined in and raped her.
Based on her complaint, an FIR was filed at Sector 29 police station against the three men under sections 342 (wrongful confinement) and and 376D (gang rape) of the IPC.But the woman later surprised police, claiming she did not want a probe. “The woman initially filed a gang rape complaint with us. However, while recording her statement in front of the magistrate, the woman stated she does not want any action to be taken in the matter,” said ACP Hawa Singh. None of the three men has been arrested.
According to the woman’s complaint, she has been working at a pub in Sahara Mall in Gurgaon for the past one year as a bar dancer. She stays in Delhi with her live-in partner. On Saturday night, after her shift ended, she met a person outside the mall who offered to drop her home on his two-wheeler, she said in her complaint.
She took the offer, after which the man took her to a room some 3km away around 2.30am, where he raped her. He was soon joined by the other persons who took turns to rape her, the woman alleged. But the men did not let her go after that. They kept her in the room till Sunday evening. Around 8.30pm on Sunday, the man who had taken her to the room dropped her near Huda City Centre Metro station and got her into a cab. In her complaint, the woman said the man paid Rs 500 to the cab driver and directed him to drop her to Munirka.
After she reached her home in Delhi, the woman returned to Gurgaon with her partner to lodge a police complaint. The woman told she took to dancing at the bar to support her partner.
