Woman jumps into water tank with two kids in Barmer

A married woman along with her five-her-old daughter and nine-month-old son committed suicide by jumping into a water tank at Peerani Meghwalo ki Basti in Kanwas village under Nagana police station area of Barmer.

JAIPUR: A married woman along with her five-her-old daughter and nine-month-old son committed suicide by jumping into a water tank at Peerani Meghwalo ki Basti in Kanwas village under Nagana police station area of Barmer. Prima facie, it appears to be an outcome of family tension.
On getting information, Barmer deputy SP O P Ujjwal with his team reached the spot and after autopsy, handed over the bodies to families.
This is the third case of group suicide in last one month. Earlier, a married woman along with her two children committed suicide on August 5 and a husband, wife and son committed suicide on September 6 in Jato Ka Bera of Sarla village.
Ujjwal said that the lady named Verju (27), wife of Pukhraj Meghwal was a resident of Peerani Meghwalon ki Basti in Kawas village. She jumped with her five-year-old daughter Anita and none-year-old son Yuvraj. Group suicide in Barmer is on the rise. There is some family dispute in the family. After getting the information, bodies were brought out from the water tank and post-mortem was conducted.
It is to be mentioned that a total number of 47 people have committed suicide in group in the last 1.5 years in Barmer. A month ago in Sarla village, Chunni Devi (28), wife of Harjiram Meghwal, first threw her two children and then she jumped herself into the tank. Hemlata (5) and son Bhawani (2) died along Chunni. Family members had gone out at the time of incident and only her brother-in-law was at home. Also in last week due to family tension, disturbed husband committed suicide along with his wife and one year old son by jumping into a water tank at Jaton Ka Bera Sarla village.
District collector Sudheer Kumar Sharma said, "The joint suicide practice is very sad and a big concern for us. We will soon start awareness campaigning to stop all these bad practice. We are planning on this."

After getting the information, body was brought out from the water tank and postmortem was done.
