MYSURU: Mysore Bank Colony Residents' Cultural and Welfare Association conducted an awareness campaign on cleanliness recently. KV Ramanath, secretary of the association, said the drive, which is being conducted since five months, has yielded a desired result with people of the colony becoming more aware about the cleanliness. Basavanna, secretary, Venkatakrishna Bhat, joint secretary, Chanddrasekhara Udupa, treasurer, residents of the colony Ganeshamurthy, Arunkumar shettar, HS Prakash, Udayashankar Bhat, Basavaraj, Murali, Raghuram, Nagaraj and Rajagopal were present.
PG department opens: A post-graduation department in Physics has been opened at the Maharani Science College recently. In his inaugural speech, physics professor KS Mallesh, said privatisation is taking place in every sector and the government institutions, if wanted to remain relevant and attract students, should provide facilities like well-equipped laboratories, hostels, internet, and other basic facilities. KP Raghottham, joint director, education department, Bengaluru, assistant professors S R Kumarswamy, H N Ranganath and M V Manjunath were present.
Wellness clinic for women: Columbia Asia Hospital will conduct a 10-day wellness camp for women at its premises at Bannimantap 'A' Layout, Mandi Mohalla, from September 14. The camp includes consultation with gynaecologists, BMI, CBC, TSH tests, dental check-ups, diet and physiotherapy consultation and breast examination. JSS school students win prizes: The students of JSS higher secondary school, Suttur have won prizes at the Hobli- level Prathibha Karanji programm h eld recently. Students participated in 16 competitions. Shivakumar (Tamil), Dileepkumar (Telugu), Mallinath(Marathi), Mohammad Zafer ( Urdu) and Vinay (Sanskrit) have been selected for district level speech competition.
Walkathon for health: Annapoorna Physiotherapy Clinic and Rehabilltation Centre and JSS College of Physiotherapy conducted a walkathon recently. The event was flagged off by Dr HR Narasimhan, senior physiotherapist. Around 200 physiotherapists and students participated in the walkthon.
