Mussoorie, September 12

Tehri MP Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah, Pratap Nagar MLA Vikram Singh Negi and rebel BJP MLA from Ghansali Bhim Lal Arya inaugurated the newly constructed bridge near Ghonti village at a function held in Tehri Garhwal district today.

The 219-metre bridge, built at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore, will link 27 villages with a population of around 30,000.

Initially, Chief Minister Harish Rawat was to inaugurate the bridge but he failed to reach as his helicopter could not take off from Dehradun due to inclement weather.

The construction of the bridge, which is capable of taking a load of light vehicles, began on September 16, 2013.

Residents said the bridge would make the journey to the district headquarters and New Tehri hospital much easier.

Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah dedicated the bridge to people. She said it would provide relief to the people who had been waiting for it from the past one year.
