Bengaluru: BRTS debate comes to life again

The theme was “Sustainable Transportation in Bengaluruâ€.

Bengaluru: “If the stretch from Silk Board junction to KR Puram is done in due time, the Metro is logical. If not, BRTS is the way to go. If the Metro can guarantee that they will finish it in three years then it is okay. Whatever is faster, cheaper and viable in the long term should be taken up," said R.K. Misra, social activist.

An old conversation that caught the attention of every commuting citizen a few years ago came back to the discussion table, reminding the city of the various recommendations made in 2007 to improve transportation. Bus Rapid Transit System, a concept that was buried by the growing popularity of the Namma Metro will be proposed again to the State Government.

Talking about this, Mr Misra and Ekroop Caur, MD, BMTC, engaged in a panel discussion with urban expert Paulo Sergio that was moderated by V. Ravichandar. The theme was “Sustainable Transportation in Bengaluru”.
