Two polarised movies hit the screens last Friday, Nithya Mehra’s Baar Baar Dekho starring Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra and Sohail Khan’s Freaky Ali starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amy Jackson.
When it came to reach, Baar Baar Dekho definitely had an upper hand, thanks to its aggressive promotional strategy. Whereas Freaky Ali hardly created any buzz with its trailer and music. On the other hand songs like Kaala Chashma, Sau Aasman, Nachne De Saare from Baar Baar Dekho crossed millions of views on Youtube and is on everyone’s playlists. Screen count wise, Freaky Ali was allotted one third compared to that of BBD.
Nevertheless, both the films very strictly for the multiplex goes hence the box-office expectations were restricted.
Firstly, Baar Baar Dekho minted a decent Rs. 6.81 crore and was expected to take a jump over the weekend. But it grew by a margin of 15% and collected Rs. 7.65 crore on Saturday. The growth remained strictly average as Rs. 8.40 crore was minted on Sunday.

On the other hand, Freaky Ali faced a massive competition from Baar Baar Dekho. It started on day 1 with a 15% occupancy and remain stagnant throughout the weekend. It minted Rs. 2.55 crore on day 1, Rs. 2.85 crore on day 2 and Rs. 2.85 crore on day 3 akaSunday. From the looks of it, Freaky Ali is heading for a Rs. 12 to 13 crore lifetime business.
