16 tribal girls rescued from Hatia Yeshwantpur Express

RANCHI: Bangalore police on Monday rescued 16 minor tribal girls of Jharkhand who were trafficked on the pretext of providing skill development training.
The information of the girls being trafficked reached Ranchi SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi on Saturday following which he contacted the Bangalore police to conduct a rescue operation.
Sadar DSP, Ranchi, VC Srivastava said, "SSP got the information that the girls from Dumka were being trafficked by Hatia-Yeshwantpur Express following which he contacted Bangalore CID.
We have got the information that all the girls have been safely rescued and two men who were taking them have been arrested."
CID Bangalore SP, Sri Gowri informed TOI that they got the information about girls being trafficked from Ranchi on Sunday night following which a raid was conducted in the said train and girls were rescued.
She said, "At around 3:30 am on Monday police teams raided the Yeshwantpur Hatia Express at KR Puram railway station were the train was at a halt and found the girls. They were accompanied by two persons who claimed that they were from an NGO and brought the girl to Bangalore for skill development training. They said that they would take back the girls after three months of training."
The two alleged traffickers were taken to the nearest, Barsinagar police station were FIR of non-cognizable offence of human trafficking was lodged against them.
Gowri said, "We are interrogating the two men and are trying to verify the identity cards of the girls to confirm their age.”
Meanwhile, CID IG of Jharkhand, Sampat Meena informed that a police team from Jharkhand will be sent to Bangalore. "We are in constant touch with CID Bangalore they are verifying certain points and will keep us informed on the developments. We are sending a team immediately to bring home the rescued girls," she said.
