AIADMK opposes sale of leased Industrial estate lands

Puducherry, Sep 12(UNI) Urging the Congress government in the Union Territory to drop its proposed move to sale out the leased Industrial Estate lands, AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan today said the party would oppose it and lodge a complaint with the Union Home Ministry.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Anbazhagan said the government had acquired 51 acres of land at Thattanchavady to set up industrial estate,7.66 acres at Mettuppalayam,15.5 acres at Mannadipet for Industries Department. For Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC) 167 acres at Mettuppalayam,62 acres at Saidarapet,52 acres at Thirubhuvanai,25 acres at Kirumambakkam and 615 acres in Karaikal were acquired. Excepting Karaikal, the land in all other industrial estates were leased out for 99 years.The present Congress government is now making efforts to sell out the land to those who had taken it on lease.
Mr Anbazhagan said, as per the Union Territories Act, Puducherry government do not have any right to sell land and it could only lease out lands.The present move is to benefit somebody, he alleged and said if the government proceeds with the proposal, AIADMK would lodge complaints with the Home Ministry and the CBI.
