Cases against farmers will remain: SP
Noida: Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav on Sunday said that the cases filed against farmers for Bhatta Parsaul violence will not be withdrawn.
General secretary of the Samajwadi Party, Yadav was on a personal visit to Dankaur on Sunday when reporters questioned him on Bhatta Parsaul. He claimed that in no circumstance the cases will be withdrawn. “The farmers took arms in their hands.
Those who fired bullets can’t be called farmers. They have to face the law,” Yadav said.
The Uttar Pradesh government had faced protest against land acquisition in the village in 2011. This resulted in sporadic incidents of violence in which two farmers and two police constables were killed. The then district magistrate Deepak Agarwal was also injured in the violence. The police had registered nine FIRs against 32 farmers. The cases are sub-judice.
The farmers claimed that the state government had earlier promised that it will consider withdrawing the cases against farmers.
Meanwhile, Yadav said that the party is confident that it will form the government in upcoming assembly election. “The state has developed tremendously under the leadership of chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. The rival parties are worried about the massive support we get in rural and urban areas alike. We are condident of getting full majority,” he said.
