MADURAI: The police have filed a case against an unnamed teacher of a private school for causing injury to an LKG student. The four-year-old child got one of his fingers fractured when his teacher shut a door to prevent him from entering the hall where the school's annual day celebration was taking place. Tension prevailed on the school campus when it came to light that the child was the son of Madurai city corporation commissioner Sandeep Nanduri.

The police said Samarth Nanduri studying in Vikaasa School at Ponnagaram in Madurai city had come for the the annual day function along with his mother Adyasha Nanduri, domestic help Sithammal and a staff member from the commissioner's camp office Kalidoss, while IAS officer father was busy with his official engagements. Half way through the function, Samarth went out of the hall and was trying to get in when the teacher who was standing guard refused to open the door.
As the teacher closed the door tightly, Samarth's left hand middle finger got crushed. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital.
Based on a complaint from Kalidoss, the Karimedu police registered a case against the teacher under section IPC 338 - causing grievous hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others. However, they said they were yet to identify the teacher who caused the injury, as they were busy making security arrangements for the death anniversary of freedom fighter Immanuel Sekaran in Paramakudi on Sunday.
