HYDERABAD: A major
fire broke out in a scrap godown, at
Falaknuma on Saturday night. The scrap godown at
Shamshergunj, behind
Andhra Bank, suddenly caught fire and was engulfed in flames within no time, say locals. According to officials from the
Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department, two fire tenders were sent to the spot. "But owing to the narrow lanes fire-fighters had a tough time, dousing the fire and bringing it under control," said an official source from the department.
Sources said that the blazes erupted from the building at around 9.20 pm. Thick smoke engulfed the area within no time and fire erupted on the ground floor and spread to the entire building.
"We are investigating the cause of the fire. However, at first glance we assume the cause of the fire to be an electrical short-circuit," he added.
