Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017: People of UP will see golden days of Congress rule sitting on our cots, says Raj Babbar

New Delhi, September 11: Uttar Pradesh Congress president Raj Babbar had claimed that voters in UP will see golden days of Congress rule while sitting on our cots. Raj Babbar reportedly said it was incorrect to say that farmer who came to the “khat panchayats” addressed by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had stolen the cots that were provided to them for sitting. The actor turned politician said that the price of cots was not much and Congress workers were not going to take them away after the meeting. The cots were brought and was meant for local villagers. Raj Babbar was replying to questions from Rajat Sharma in his show Aap Ki Adalat.

Raj Babbar said, “Our leader listened to the ‘dil kibaat’ (talk from the heart) of the villagers, and they later took away those cots because, in the coming days, these villagers will sit on those cots and see their golden days”. he further added, “when the villagers will wake up on these cots, they will surely find the sun shining, there will be a Congress government, and people will get justice”. (Also Read: Modi will meet Obama but not farmers: Rahul Gandhi at Kisan Yatra in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh)

Raj Babbar further alleged UP government and argued that “One must understand how things have gone wrong in UP in last 27 years. When farmers came to share their problems with cots on their heads, on motorbikes and bicycles. One should understand the pain behind this act”.

When asked that Rahul Gandhi’s words are not taken seriously by the people he replied that there were people who do take Rahul’s word seriously. The 56-year-old politician also said, “Rahulji has been demanding that the government should waive off farmer’s loan of Rs 50,000 crore, to save them from committing suicide”. Without naming Vijay Mallya, Babbar said, “an industrialist ran away to London after taking Rs 9000 crore loans, but farmers who are taking away cots are branded as looters”.

When asked about Priyanka Vadra would be given a bigger role in Uttar Pradesh to which Raj Babbar replied, “Priyankaji’s role has always been active. Soniaji, Rahulji, Priyankaji may be individuals, but I see the family as a unit. This family has made many sacrifices for the nation and for the party”.

While citing about political upheaval in India over Uttar Pradesh elections, Babbar said, “Due to this upheaval we are demanding that Priyankaji should play a strong and bigger role in Uttar Pradesh’s elections”. Raj Babbar also lashed out at the Samajwadi Party saying that the party is now confined to a family of 12 persons headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav.
