A 16-year-old boy was killed and his father sustained severe injuries after a speeding truck rammed into their bike near Jagatpur area of the city on Saturday morning.

Jaipur: A 16-year-old boy was killed and his father sustained severe injuries after a speeding truck rammed into their bike near Jagatpur area of the city on Saturday morning.
According to the police, the incident took place when Aman (16) and his father Brijlal (45) were travelling towards Bajaj Nagar from Jagatpura when a truck hit them from behind. "Brijlal was heading towards Bajaj Nagar to drop his son for coaching.
A fully loaded truck which had lost its balance due to high speed, tried to overtake their bike. As a result, the truck rammed into the bike," police said.
The driver of the truck tried to flee from the spot, but was caught by the people. "The father and son were wearing the helmets, but the truck was at a very high speed. Brijlal was driving the bike and had seen the speeding truck on the rear view glasses. Before Brijlal could react, the truck tried to overtake them and knocked them of," police said. While Aman died on the spot, Brijlal was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition is said to be critical.
The police registered a case under several sections of the IPC and motor vehicles act, including rash driving and overloading.
"The particular stretch near Jagatpura is notorious for the trucks driven at high speed. At several occasions, the police caught the offenders and issued them challan. But the situation has not changed," said a senior traffic police official.
The traffic police have been setting up barricades to stop the speeding trucks, but the death toll due to the accidents are continue to rise.
