A day after offering prayers at Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi Saturday visited a prominent madrasa in Jaunpur district, where he interacted with students and clerics and had lunch with them. Taking a break from his road show, which received a good response in Jaunpur, Rahul spent nearly an hour at the Riyazul Uloom-Guraini madrasa in Kheta Sarai area.
Later addressing a gathering near the madrasa, he once again trained his guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the RSS. “Narendra Modi has failed as a person. He is like a gas-filled balloon making hollow promises. But,he knows very well one thing, which has been taught to him by his RSS gurus, to destroy the love and harmony of this country,” Rahul said, adding only he, Congress and party chief Sonia Gandhi were waging a battle against Modi and the Sangh.
Further hitting out at the PM, Rahul said that during the UPA regime, ministers used to be sent across the country to look for the problems faced by people, but under Narendra Modi, they are being sent to other countries on vacation. “Today Modi ji called all his ministers to Delhi and told them that there are 68 countries where he has not yet reached. He asked them to now take up tour of two countries each. First, Modi went on tour and now his ministers can also go on vacation,” the Congress leader said. “Jaisa mainey kaha tha ‘janata trast, Modiji mast’ (As I had said earlier, the public is in trouble but Modiji is happy),” he added.
He also took potshots at both BSP and the ruling Samajwadi Party in the state. “You removed the elephant (BSP’s poll symbol) and brought the cycle…but the cycle is stationary,” he said. Taking a jibe at Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, he said: “Akhilesh cycle pe baitha hua hai…Cycle bandhi hui hai aur woh use khol nahi pa raha hai (Akhilesh is sitting on a cycle, but the cycle is tied from behind, and he is unable to move it).” Rahul’s 4.7 km long road show in Jaunpur city extended to over 10 km, delaying his arrival in Azamgarh.
