Two killed in road accident at Verna

Vasco: Verna police arrested a tempo driver for rash and negligent driving, which killed two youth late on Friday night. The duo, on bike, was trying to overtake the tempo when it hit them on the NH 17B, near ZIOTL, Zuarinagar.
Steve Fernandes, 20, from Arossim, was riding the bike while Rolan Carvalho, 19, from New Vaddem, was the pillion rider.
At about 11.30pm, when they overtook the tempo, they hit the front side of it and fell on the road.While Fernandes died on the spot, Carvalho was declared brought dead after being taken to the Goa Medical College and Hospital.
Driver of the truck, Mohanti Shinde, 35, from Mangor, ran away from the spot. Verna police arrested him on Saturday.
