CHENNAI: After a call to the divisional railway manager's office at Chennai Central on Friday night warned of bombs in Shatabdi Express trains, police personnel and bomb squads conducted detailed search of the Shatabdi trains arriving at and leaving from the station on Saturday. Following the operation, the call was declared a hoax.
"We received a message from railway security commissioner saying that all Shadabdi trains should be checked for explosives.
There are 50-odd Shadabdi trains running across the country. So all the trains were checked," a railway police official said.
On Saturday morning, three Shadabdi trains originating from Chennai and travelling to Coimbatore, Bengaluru and Mysuru were checked by bomb squads and sniffer dogs. The coaches and luggage in all the three trains were frisked, police said.
