The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Andhra Pradesh, launched a three-day charity programme in Rishikesh yesterday.

It distributed clothes and food to the poor. Besides, cultural presentations and academic sessions were also organised on the occasion. A library comprising 2,000 books was also inaugurated.

Nimish Pandya, national president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, said students, pilgrims, tourists and local people would be benefited by the library.

On the second day of the event, a Sri Sathya Sai Ghat was inaugurated on the banks of the Ganga here.

Trustees Rathnakar and Ravish Khanna inaugurated the Ganga ghat. They claimed safe and hygienic access to the pilgrims, tourists and local people at the Ganga ghat.

Sri Sathya Sai Trust will manage the affairs of the Ganga ghat with installation of statues of deity Ganga and Lord Vishnu. Meanwhile, a statue of Lord Shiva was inaugurated at North Prashanti Temple by the trustees.
