Patwari held taking bribe

Tarn Taran: Sunil Kumar, a patwari in the Revenue Department, was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau while he was taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Patti resident Gurmeet Singh. Sunil has been booked under Section 7, 13 (2) Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused had taken the bribe to enter Gurmeet’s name in his parental property record. The VB team has also recovered the bribe money.

Farmer booked for rape

A farmer in Killianwali village near here has been booked for allegedly raping a woman of Virak Khera village (Malout), whom he had engaged for cooking. In Jhurarkhera village, a minor Dalit girl (11) was allegedly molested by a person who reportedly forcibly entered her house when her parents had gone out. The girl managed to escape and reached the house of her grandparents. A case has been registered.

Markfed and Punjab Agro on Saturday launched certified organic basmati rice and organic whole wheat atta. KS Pannu, Managing Director, Punjab Agro, and Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Managing Director, Markfed, jointly launched these products.
