NASHIK: Farmers from Igatpuri taluka presented a memorandum of demand with collector of Nashik that development zone of Samruddhi Highway connecting Mumbai and Nagpur be constructed at Igatpuri.
Against the common picture painted by the political leadership in Igatpuri taluka that the farmers were against parting away with the land for the proposed 700 km high speed highway connecting major cities of the State, the farmers from Igatpuri taluka demand that the nodes be constructed in their taluka.
The highway will have special commercial zones every 40 km of distance and these zones will be constructed across 400 yo 500 hectares of land in which residential and commercial zones will be created where farmers whose land has been acquired for the project will be given non agriculture land. These centers also called as nodes will host commercial activity, agro processing activity which the farmers can start.
"There is ample of land available in our taluka and the farmers are ready to cooperate on the issue," the farmers delegation said.
The farmers will get 25 percent of their land holding in developed townships (at every 40 km interval) which will have 85-15 ratio with 15 percent being commercial area. The roads will be well developed to proper standards and commercial areas can be developed for agriculture and related businesses as well. The project is being carried out at a very fast pace. Basically it is expected that in next three months the physical alignment of the road has to be finalised and that only means after farmers consent only.
