INDORE: Parents of a minor girl rushed her to a hospital in Agar Malwa district with stomach ache on Friday night, but were in for a rude shock when they were informed that she was pregnant and in labour. The girl gave birth to a boy in the night. It was later found out that the 15-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a relative staying in her neighbourhood nine months ago.
She had kept it hidden fearing that her parents would get angry at her.
The girl, a resident of Dussehra Maidan in Agar, had developed labour pains and was unable to control it when she informed her parents. Fearing that the girl was suffering from abdominal pains, they rushed her to the district hospital, Agar police station in-charge SS Nagar told TOI.
They were shocked to hear that she was pregnant. The parents did not have a clue that such an incident took place, he said. Soon after the healthy baby was delivered, the hospital authorities informed the police and the girl’s statements were recorded. Nagar said the girl claimed that one Ravi, her cousin and neighbour, had raped her nine months ago. Agar police have registered a case of rape against Ravi, who was yet to be arrested.
