Organised by the Asian Cultural Association of Pakistan, the condolence reference paid tribute to choreographer Qaiser Mastana, cameraman Naeem Rizvi and actor Munir Nadir.
A renowned action choreographer who worked in the industry for over 40 years, Mastana passed away after suffering from a heart attack. He choreographed action sequences for over 500 films, with Zarrar and Sawaal 700 Crore Dollar Ka being his last two projects.
A number of industry members turned up for the event, including writer and director Pervaiz Kalim, director Jarrar Rizvi, writer Suraj Baba and actors Ashi Khan, Razia Malik, Madiha Rizvi, Shiba Butt. Family members of the deceased were also present on the occasion.
Naeem was the husband of film actor Deeba. “My father was a very humble man who contributed a lot to this industry,” said their daughter Madiha Hashmi.
Speaking at the event, Kalim said all three of the deceased were assets of the industry. “They were committed to their work. I want to give a special mention to Mastana because I think without him the story of Lollywood’s rise and evolution is incomplete. Naeem, too, was one of the best cinematographers we have ever had,” he said.
Khan was of the view that personalities like Nadir were institutions for newcomers to learn from. “I worked with these artists and learnt a lot from them. I request the government to support their families,” she maintained.
