AVM H J Walia visits 48-Squadron at Chandigarh IAF station
his is the first official visit to the squadron as the commodore commandant by the AVM who is the alumni of the Defence Service Staff College.
CHANDIGARH: Air vice marshal(AVM) Harinder Jeet Walia, additional director general (ADG) at headquarters of directorate general, National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the commodore commandant of 48 squadron of the Indian Air Force (IAF) visited the Chandigarh based squadron on Saturday. He was presented a ceremonial guard of honour by the commanding officer group captain Khushpal Singh Lambha. This is the first official visit to the squadron as the commodore commandant by the AVM who is the alumni of the Defence Service Staff College, College of Air Warfare and national defence college.
While addressing the squadron personnel in a hollow square, he emphasized on welfare of troops.
The commodore commandant asked them to keep themselves updated in all aspect of profession and enjoy the profession as hobby .Each individual should also be aware of different policy matters as regard government welfare schemes for service personnel, he added.
AVM Walia was commissioned in the transport stream of Indian Air Force in June 1981 and more than 5000 hrs of varied flying experience with extensive flying in the Eastern and Northern Sectors. Earlier Air Commodore Arun Saklani, AOC 12-Wing and Group Captain Lambha received the AVM at the airport.
