Ecurie Ecosse GT4 young guns target podiumposted in GT09 | 09 | 2016

FIRED-UP BY THEIR history-making win at Snetterton in the last round, Black Bull Ecurie Ecosse GT4 young guns Sandy Mitchell and Ciaran Haggerty are targeting another podium finish in the final round of the British GT Championship at Donington Park this weekend.

The talented young duo powered their McLaren 570S GT4 to victory in the opening race at the Norfolk circuit. The win was the first for McLaren in British GT; the debut win for Haggerty and Mitchell; and made Mitchell the youngest-ever British GT winner at 16 years 169 days.

“After finally stepping on to the top step of the podium at Snetterton with Ciaran, we’re both going into the final weekend feeling really confident and we’d love to finish the year with another pole position and win,” the Forfar youngster said.

“Donington’s a fast and flowing circuit, albeit with a couple of hairpins. I’ve usually been fast when I’ve raced at the circuit, so I’m looking forward to getting back there.

“I think it’ll suit the car fine. It’s always hard to gauge until you do the first few runs, but I don’t think it’ll be a bad weekend.”

Haggerty too is looking to build on the winning success from Snetterton.

“Certainly, it’s going to be a tough weekend,” the 20-year-old from Johnstone said, “but coming off the back of our win at Snetterton has given our confidence a boost.

“If we can pull off another win, that would be a terrific way to end the season. Donington’s a very fast, flowing track, which suits my driving style. I also think it will really suit the car.

“Hopefully too we can carry our performances over from Snetterton and push for another pole position and win, and finish the season on a high.”
