FARRUGIA. On September 9, Sr MARIA FARRUGIA, FMM, aged 83, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by her sisters of the convent of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, Balzan. She leaves to mourn her loss her congregation, her sisters Emma Camenzuli, Doris Athanasio and Olympia Bartolo, nephews and nieces and their families, cousins and numerous friends in Malta and Australia where she was a missionary for 41 years. The funeral Mass will be said today, Saturday, September 10 at 10am at the convent chapel, Balzan. The family would appreciate if, instead of flowers, donations in her name be sent to Hospice Malta, Balzan. The family would also like to thank the nuns and staff of the convent and the staff at Hospice Malta for their care. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
MERCIECA. On September 8, CHRISTINA, widow of Dominic, aged 96, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Loving mother of Carmen, Frank and his wife Frances, Henry and his wife Tessie, and Elizabeth and her husband Anthony; her grandchildren Duncan, Stephanie, Mark, Paula, Kristel, Steve, Yan, Kristian, Keith and Karl; her great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Saturday, September 10 at 8.30am for Kristu Rxoxt parish church, Pembroke, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
RIZZO. On September 8, JOSEPH, aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved wife Ivy née Lanfranco, his children Anita and her husband Josef Camilleri, Anthony and his wife Heidi née Stellini, and Roberta and her husband John Tua, his grandchildren Gaston and Justine, Fae and Frank, Luke and Stephanie, Clarissa and Kurt, Karl and Nicola, and Julia and Daniel, his beloved great-grandchild Matteo, his brother Prof. John Rizzo Naudi, his sisters Doris Rizzo and Tessie and her husband Charles Zahra, his sister-in-law Marlene Attard, his carer Juliet, and his many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Monday, September 12 at 2pm for Our Lady of the Annunciation parish church, Balzan where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Community Chest Fund will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
