Snatching case solved, two held

AMRITSAR: The Cantonment police today claimed to have arrested two snatchers identified as Satnam Singh, alias Satta, of Chawinda Devi village and Sandeep, alias Rana, of MIS colony.

The Cantonment police today claimed to have arrested two snatchers identified as Satnam Singh, alias Satta, of Chawinda Devi village and Sandeep, alias Rana, of MIS colony.

The police seized the motorcycle used in the crime and the cash which they had snatched from a local resident identified as Rajwant Kaur. She had withdrawn Rs 2 lakh from Punjab National Bank on Surta Singh Road in connection with the marriage of her son.

She stated that she had just reached near her house on a rickshaw when a Sikh and a boy with shorn hair, travelling on a motorcycle, snatched her polythene bag containing the cash besides a mobile phone.

The police had registered a case under Section 379-B, Indian Penal Code, in this regard. Ram Saroop Dogra, Station House Officer, Cantonment police station, said the accused were arrested from the Kabir Park area. The police have recovered the cash and the motorcycle used in the crime. He said they were brought on police remand and further interrogation could lead to more recoveries. The snatchers were identified as Satnam Singh and Sandeep.
