MUSSOORIE: The northern frontier were declared the winners of the Sixth Inter-Frontier Rock Climbing Competition that concluded at the ITBP Academy here today.

Mussoorie, September 9

The northern frontier were declared the winners of the Sixth Inter-Frontier Rock Climbing Competition that concluded at the ITBP Academy here today. The north-eastern frontier were declared second while the eastern frontier were declared third in the event. Pradeep Negi form the Climber Training Zone was declared the best climber of the tournament.

HS Guraya, Director of the ITBP Academy, congratulated the participants and the oganisers for the success of the tournament. He said rock climbing was an integral part of the training in the ITBP and it was beneficial for them while serving in geographically difficult terrain. Such competitions were held for jawans and should also be organised for officers.

Guraya commended the efforts of ITBP jawans involved in the search and rescue operations during the Kedarnath disaster in 2013. DIG and Deputy Director of the ITBP Academy Davinder Singh welcomed the guests and Commandant Training Umesh Nauityal read out the tournament report. The academy Director gave away the citation and awards to the winners.
